The weekend is once again upon us and there is no short supply of happenings in San Antonio. It’s the opening weekend of The Playhouse San Antonio’s latest production. Set in the not-so-distant future, the satirical musical tells the story of a town where a severe, prolonged water shortage prompted the government to ban private toilets. Cinco de Mayo
Market Square will come alive with live music by the Palacio Brothers, Patsy Torres, Ruben V and others throughout this free three-day Cinco de Mayo celebration. On Friday, there will also be live Cinco de Mayo performances at the Arneson River Theatre in La Villita. Friday noon-Sunday 7 p.m., Market Square, 514 W. The Art of Music
Musicians from the San Antonio Symphony will perform throughout the San Antonio Museum of Art’s Cowden Gallery as part of an event celebrating the visiting Of Country and Culture exhibition, which features Aboriginal Australian contemporary art. Cinco de Derby
Don your bowties and derby hats to celebrate Cinco de Mayo and the Kentucky Derby in one event. Enjoy games, margaritas, mint juleps, tasty eats and more. Proceeds support the San Antonio Public Library Foundation. Saturday, 3-6:30 p.m. Quarry Golf Club, 444 E. Basse Road, 210-225-4728, saplf.org

Black Swan
Violinist Tim Fain, who performed on screen and in the soundtrack for Black Swan, stars in this free concert presented by Musical Bridges Around the World. Robert Koenig, a UC Santa Barbara professor and renowned pianist, also will perform. An 8 p.m. reception follows the performance. Sunday, 7 p.m. San Fernando Cathedral, 115 W. A night at the Magik
Celebrate the past and future of the Magik Theatre during a cocktail party with pop-up performances, live music by the Latin Playerz Big Band and bites from Biga on the Banks, Piatti and Paloma Blanca.
