Texas Historical Landmarks That You Should See

Years ago, there was a slogan of an American airline company – “Texas is big and we are big in Texas” – that might be the best starting point for a brief description of what means a visit to discover details about what life was like, during the state`s history. There is not enough space to review everything that you can visit, so we only offer you a few suggestions and it is up to you to discover the rest.

The history of Texas is packed with interesting events, from the first religious missions, to the battle for independence from Mexico and the shooting of President Kennedy that can be discovered via tours organized to local historical landmarks.

  • The Alamo, in San Antonio is a famous battle site, where you can find out more about soldiers who fought and died for autonomy from Mexico. In fact there are really great San Antonio vacation rentals in the area, that allows you to see all the sites of downtown within walking distance.
  • Dealey Plaza is the site from where President J.F. Kennedy has been shot, in 1963. The 6th floor of the warehouse where Oswald fired became The Sixth Floor Museum, which now preserves the history of that terrible moment in the country`s history.
  • Stockyards National Historic District, in Fort Worth, is a place where you can see one of the last stockyard in the country, visit the first indoor rodeo arena, the Stockyard Museum and have a good beer in one of the oldest bars in the area.
